State Owned Enterprises (SOEs) are rising in popularity as a viable way to run companies. In the following pages, I will give some insight into a few different aspects of problems of Corporate Governance in State-Owned Enterprises. First, I’m going to briefly mention the various ways in which nations can be connected to corporations and to narrow the focus of my analysis. To fully understand the complexities of the current lay of land of SOEs, we will delve into the history of how State-Owned Enterprises have shifted in and out of favor on the world stage. Finally I will discuss current key features of corporate governance and identify how SOEs, by their very nature of their connectedness with nations, often face a variety of governance challenges.
